Our story
The Galveston County Story
The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce established an education committee in 2010 as a broad based community partnership. The committee has united every educational institution both public and private on the island in an unprecedented alliance to enhance the quality, accessibility, choice, and usefulness of education for all students and to support the economic, social, and political viability of Galveston Island. The Education Committee felt that Lemonade Day was the perfect collaboration of business and education to help achieve their goals, and with their support the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce purchased the licensing fee to bring Lemonade Day Galveston County to our community in 2012.
The Galveston Regional Chamber rallies the business community to support producing the event with cash and in-kind sponsorship, and we involve the help of key local and regional media outlets to promote Lemonade Day Galveston County. However, our most effective promotional tool are the relationships we’ve created with the schools and youth organizations via the Chamber’s Education Committee. With their buy-in of the program, our Lemonade Day Galveston County team has performed countless kickoff events at area schools and youth organizations to spread the word about Lemonade Day Galveston County. These kickoff events combined with our annual Lemonade Day Kick-off event, Build a Stand…Spark a Dream event, Best Tasting Lemonade Contest, Spirit Night and Lemonade Day itself have exposed our Chamber to thousands people, most of who were not previously involved with our organization.
