THE BEST TASTING LEMONADE IN DALLAS

Alexandra German, owner of the Lemonade Day stand “Lemon Drops,” won Lemonade Day’s Best Tasting Lemonade Contest during the inaugural Lemonade Day event on May 4.

The timeless recipe, handed down from her mother, features a mixture of freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar, water, simple syrup and lemon slices. It was the favorite among a panel of celebrity judges, including Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett, Senator Royce West, radio host David Johnson, philanthropist Gail Warrior, restaurateur Phil Romano, teen entrepreneur Maddie Bradshaw and founder of The Dallas Entrepreneurial Center Trey Bowles.

On Making and Donating Money

Alexandra’s aunt had seen Lemonade Day on the news and started following it on Facebook. Shortly after, Alexandra’s mother signed her and her sister up for it. “I loved the idea of earning my own money,” Alexandra says.

And make money she did! She’s also donating 10 percent of her earnings to her church as a tithe.

Why Lemonade Day Was Awesome

Alexandra loved earning money and learning how to run a business, but she said her favorite parts of Lemonade Day were winning the contest and meeting Dallas Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett.

The Secrets to Her Success

Alexandra shared tips on how to sell as much as possible on Lemonade Day:

  • Bright colors: an eye-catching stand that attracts the attention of people passing by
  • A good attitude: fearlessness in approaching customers is necessary
  • A good location: heavy foot traffic from people who have the time to stop and taste the lemonade

Alexandra encouraged kids who are thinking about participating next year to plan ahead and be proactive about asking people to buy their lemonade.

The Next Chapter

Alexandra has tasted success and is thirsty for more! She dreams of bottling her winning lemonade (in recyclable bottles), putting it in stores and adding new flavors to the mix.

“It’s amazing, exciting and a new adventure,” she says.
